MAY We Meet Again (In Person)

Our virtual Meet and Greet with members of the Kenan Trust Foundation

We are almost halfway through the year and ORI continues to push our mission to address the health care disparities in rural North Carolina through the recruitment and retaining of a diverse primary care provider workforce to meet the unique needs of our rural and underserved communities. In this vein, we have another cohort of Kenan Rural Primary Care Scholars who have completed residency and entered practice and cohort who have completed medical school and are off to residency. Congratulations to both groups as they embark on these new adventures in their careers! 🎓🎓🎓🎓

Kenan Spotlight

We have some amazing scholars and staff doing great things in the School of Medicine and beyond. We are highlighting two of our scholars who recently received some great honors. We would also like to highlight members of our ORI/Kenan (Director Meredith Bazemore & Dr. Caroline Roberts) who were chosen to be presenters at this year’s Annual National Rural Health Association (NRHA) Conference.

Golden Humanism Award Recipient Caleb Smith. The Gold Foundation champions humanism in healthcare defined as compassionate, collaborative, and scientifically excellent care. When skilled clinicians build caring, trusting and collaborative relationships with patients, studies reveal more appropriate medical decisions, better patient adherence with treatment plans, and less costly healthcare outcomes. More than 35,000 medical students, physicians, and other leaders have been inducted and serve as role models of the human connection in healthcare. https://www.gold-foundation.org/about-us/
